Perfect tool to answer that age old question in the mountains - what is that peak over there?

- Peter Buck, Mountaineering Guide, Scottish Highlands

So powerful, yet so easy to use.

Simply hold the iPhone camera in the direction you're interested in and voila! You instantly get the name, location and altitude of the peaks you're looking at. Whether hiking or biking, this is a great app to have along on your trip.

The app comes preloaded with over half a million peaks from around the world. Don't let the weight of your iPhone fool you; they're all in there. That means no roaming charges when you summit that fantastic peak across the border.

In order to work its augmented reality magic, Peaks needs all of the gadgets the iPhone 3GS has to offer: GPS, camera, accelerometer and unique to the 3GS, the digital compass.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Capture the moment... and the name of those peaks with the new augmented photo feature of Peaks 2.0. Better than just a plain old photo, augmented photos have the names of the peaks behind you and even the peak you're standing on.

Now your buddies will have to believe that you made it to the top. Even better yet, email them the photo on a weekday when they're sitting in the office and you're out enjoying the fresh mountain air.

Don't have an internet connection at the top of the mountain? No problem. All of the photos you take are saved to your photo library. You can send that photo email when you get back to base camp.
